Synopsis
A global entourage of 11,000 athletes from 200 Nations, were assembled in Sydney, for sport’s ultimate challenge – The Quest For Olympic Performance Supremacy And The Medals That Confirmed It. This commemorative programme captures all the greatest achievements and performances of the Australian Team with every Australian medallist featured, winning gold, silver or bronze.
From the glorious backdrop of Sydney Harbour for the first Olympic Triathlon, to the focus on “Thorpedo”, the biggest star in the pool, a 17 year-old with size 17 feet, who on the first night in the pool delivered the gold medal-winning, World Record breaking performance in the 400m Freestyle. The Olympic pool proved so fast that no fewer than 14 World Records were broken. The track and field events at Stadium Australia, featured the athlete under the most pressure in Sydney, Undoubtedly, Cathy Freeman.
